Obituary of Joseph Armando Casternovia

Joseph A. Casternovia of Bethlehem Township, New Jersey was born August 24, 1947 and died peaceful at home surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with Cancer on February 24, 2015. Joe grew up in Springfield and attended Jonathan Dayton Regional High School and graduated in 1965. He loved spending his summers at the Jersey Shore where he enjoyed waterskiing, crabbing, boating and watching a beautiful sunrise. He worked alongside his father Joe, at Casternovia Construction. They were successful private contractors and worked together for many years, he loved his father dearly. In his work his main objective was always to make his customers home a more beautiful place for them to live. His contracting/excavating legacy lives on by his son Anthony Casternovia. Some of the things he loved doing were his "Thursday nights with Barbara at the Sands Casino where he played Caribbean Poker. He loved collecting antiques and going to yard sales, where he would find wonderful treasures. Joe always took the time to talk to people and had funny stories to tell, he truly enjoyed people and had a smile for everyone. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He will always be remembered as the "First Mate" on the boys weekend boat trip to Atlantic City which was an annual event for over 25 years. He loved his family more than the world, and was there for them whenever they needed him, with great advise and a warm loving hug, they will miss him immensely. He will live on in their hearts forever. He is survived by his wife Barbara, his children Tony, Tara, Chad and Carly. His mother Mary, sister Skeeter and his brother-in-law Dominick along with numerous nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.
