Obituary of Jean S. Howard

Jean S. Howard, age 86, of Pittstown, NJ, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ. Jean was born December 5, 1928 in Syracuse, NY. She was the daughter of the late Edward and the late Marguerite (Letterman) Scharoun. She attended Syracuse University and received her BA and Masters degrees at Trenton State College. She worked at Bristol Labs in Syracuse, NY and as a teacher for the Union Township School District for twenty-one years. Jean was a member of the Franklin Township Seniors Group and the Hunterdon County Retired Teachers. Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time at the family property in upstate NY. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzle expert, gardener and collector of antique glassware. Jean enjoyed bird watching and restoring her farmhouse in upstate NY. She also enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband George. Surviving are: her husband of sixty-five years, George P. Howard Jr; daughter Judith Burd of Washington, NJ; and son, John Howard and his wife, Shirley, of Frenchtown, NJ. She also has two grandchildren: Amy of East Amwell, NJ and Rachel of Bozeman, MT. The Visitation will take place Monday, May 25th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 26 at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery in Quakertown.
