Obituary of Walter Buczek

Walter "Sonny" Buczek, age 84, of Lebanon, NJ died on Monday August 15, 2016 at Care One of Somerset Valley. Walter was born June 9, 1932 in Plainfield, NJ. He is the son of the late Walter and the late Mary (Rudowski) Buczek of Kenilworth NJ. He was married to his High School sweetheart, Lorraine (Bauer) Buczek who predeceased him in 2007. He attended Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield NJ. After high school he was stationed with the US Navy as a machinist mate on a sub tender stationed in the Florida Keys during the Korean War. Walter worked for Western Electric as a machinist and later AT&T as a building manager retiring in 1986. Walter loved hunting, fishing, wood working, gardening and building remote control planes. He and his wife raised apples on their property in Lebanon for forty-three years. He belonged to the Old Barn Gun Club, Pioneers, also was a volunteer with the Mr. Fix It Program. He is survived his daughter, Ellen McGowan of Asbury, NJ; grandson, Matthew McGowan and wife Meagan of Morris Plains, NJ; granddaughter, Sarah Ackley and her husband Andrew of Pasadena, MD; great-grandchildren, Briggs McGowan and Genevieve Ackley; brother: Raymond Buczek and wife Helen of Asbury, NJ; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Bauer of Mt. Pleasant, SC; nephews and nieces; dear friend and hunting buddy of over 40yrs, John Gianos. His son-in-law, Michael McGowan predeceased him. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm, at the Martin Funeral Home 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809. A funeral service will be offered at the funeral home on Wednesday August 17 at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Clinton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Walter to: Hunterdon County Parks and Recreation at www.inmemoryof-memorial.org or mail your check payable to "In Memory Of" to IN Memory Of, P.O.
