Obituary of William Robert Betza

"Rescuing one animal may not change the world, but for that one animal the world will be changed forever." William Robert Betza, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday February 3, 2017. He was born October 16, 1952 in New Brunswick, NJ to the late Dorothea (Reagan) Betza and Julian Betza. Bill attended Somerville High School and Somerset County College. He lived in Edison and Millstone NJ before settling in High Bridge forty years ago. Bill was employed by AGFA in Branchburg as a systems analyst for thirty-nine years. A sports enthusiast Bill enjoyed coaching the High Bridge Huskies, golfing with nephew Mike Johnston and friend Jim Eberling. Rooting for the NY sports teams especially the Rangers, Mets and Jets. He loved music, mixing margaritas, cooking and creating video collages. He also enjoyed spending time at his Corolla, NC beach house. Bill was predeceased by his parents and his brother Julian Paul Betza. Surviving are his loving wife of forty-three years Jeannette (Suhr), daughters Michelle Betza and her fiancée Shane Shank of Lancaster PA, Meghan Betza of High Bridge and Dawn Banko of Oceanside, CA. Also surviving Bill is his sister Ann Johnston and her husband Garry, his brother Phillip Betza and his wife Laura, the source of his strength and courage, grandson Maxwell James Mornick, his namesake "Billy" Funkhauser, godson Collin Funkhauser, father-in-law Jim Suhr and many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends and relatives are invited to gather on Wednesday February 8, 2017 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809. A funeral service will be held on Friday February 10, 2017 at 11:00am at the Annandale Reformed Church 2 West Street, Annandale NJ.
