Dolores Marie (nee Rosalsky) Sohn, age 81, formerly of Marudy Drive in Clinton, New Jersey, passed away August 8, 2020. Born January 16, 1939 in Bayonne, New Jersey, Dolores was the daughter of the late Henrietta (nee O'Flynn) and Stanley Rosalsky.
Dolores was a graduate of Bayonne High School. She worked as a beautician and caregiver for many years at the Hunterdon Developmental Center. In 1957, she married her husband Henry. They had four children together. She was a devoted mother and loving grandmother.
Dolores had numerous hobbies. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed crafts. There was always a project in progress. She wrote delightful short stories. Dolores was a collector, especially of perfume bottles. She loved flea marketing and was a hunter of lost treasures at garage sales. She was a member of the Clinton Jr. Women's Club, Den Mother for Dennis’ Boy Scout Troops, and volunteered as a cafeteria aid in North Plainfield, New Jersey. Grandma’s smiling face could be seen attending one of her grandchildren’s events.
Dolores is survived by her beloved daughters, Debra Fuchs and her husband Richard, Diane Throckmorton and her husband Scott, Denise Christine Reed; sister Fran Rosalsky; brother Stush,,grandchildren, Michael Henry, Rachael Lynn, Erica Rose, and Richard Henry; her life partner, Walter Podpora and his son Wally, goddaughter, Karyn; and lifelong friend, Joyce VanNatta.
Dolores is predeceased by her son, Dennis; husband, Henry; parents, Stanley and Henrietta; brother, Johnny; and sister, Margaret.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dolores' name may be made to a favorite charity of choice or to Hunterdon Hospice.
Memorial gathering will be held at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Rt. 31, Clinton, New Jersey 08809, on Friday, August 14, 2020 from 4:00 until 6:00 pm. A short service will be held at 6:00 pm followed by a butterfly release in Dolores' honor.
