William Rada

Obituary of William Joseph Rada

William J. Rada Esq., "Bill", died on Wednesday, April 15th from complications of Covid-19. He was the beloved husband of Honoré Quinn and devoted father to Aishling, Honoré, Fiona, and Cormac. Bill Rada lived a life in service to the things he deeply loved - knowledge, conversation, culture, nature, and above all else, his family.

A long-time resident of New York and New Jersey, Bill's active childhood on the Upper East Side included playing basketball and exploring his varied interests at Bronx High School of Science. He continued his love of learning at St. John's College in Annapolis ('77), where he translated and studied the original texts of the world's greatest writers and thinkers - most dearly, Plato, Baudelaire, and Proust.

Bill's admiration for language, critical dialogue, and creative thinking drew him to law. He graduated from Brooklyn Law School and practiced as an attorney in both New Jersey and New York for almost 40 years, most recently at Methfessel & Werbel. He was deeply respected by clients and colleagues for his insatiable curiosity and attention to detail. Those same traits allowed him to cultivate a deep appreciation for life's pleasures. Bill enjoyed collecting an eclectic mix of vinyl records, going to Lincoln Center for jazz performances, and listening to opera while gardening. His devotion to music was rivaled only by his passion for cuisine and finding new spots across New York and New Jersey. But Bill was happiest at parties--where his love for music, food, family, and friends could be celebrated together. Bill's quiet, reserved nature and his deftness for listening made him a trusted confidant for many, especially his children. To know Bill was to like him. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was predeceased by his father and mother, Milton and Charlotte Rada, and his father and mother-in-law, Jack and Maureen Quinn, with whom he enjoyed a special relationship. Family and friends will be invited to a Celebration of Life to be set at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of "William J.
