Obituary of Nancy Ruth Arkin

Nancy Ruth Arkin, of Pawleys Island, SC, devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away on March 30, 2021 at the age of 85. She was born on May 15, 1935 in New York City and graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in English in 1957. Nancy and her husband Bruce then settled in Freehold, NJ to raise their daughters. She loved making a beautiful home for her family, was a Girl Scout Leader, active in her daughters' school and athletic activities, and was an avid tennis player. When her daughters were older, she worked as an administrator for Jaydor Corporation in Millburn, NJ. After stops in Basking Ridge, NJ and Islamorada, FL, they settled on Pawleys Plantation in Pawleys Island, SC, and built their dream home on the 15th tee. Nancy replaced her love for tennis for a newfound love for golf and spent many happy and fun years on the golf course and was a member of Pawleys Plantation Women's Golf Association. She also enjoyed many wonderful years of playing bridge and catching up on the local gossip, loved reading and listening to music. Nancy will be dearly missed by her family. She was happiest when helping her daughters and grandchildren, and her favorite questions, "anything happening tomorrow, and what's the weather?" will be missed. She always loved being on the "go" and never liked to sit. Nancy is predeceased by her beloved husband Bruce Arkin. She is survived by her daughter Valerie Catanzaro and husband Tony of Westfield, NJ; her daughter Lori Arkin Dibiasi and husband Darrin Dibiasi of Glen Gardner, NJ; and her grandsons Matthew Catanzaro and Michael Catanzaro. Services will be private for family. Donations can be made in Nancy's name to St. Luke's Hospital, 185 Roseberry St, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865
