Obituary of Vincent Luberto, Jr.
Vincent “Vinnie” Luberto Jr., age 92, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 29th, 2025, at the Morristown Medical Center. Born on July 25, 1932, in Hackensack, NJ, he was the son of the late Vincent Luberto Sr. and Elisa (nee Schmidt) Luberto.
Vincent graduated from high school in 1945 and proudly served our country as a Corporal E-4 in the Army National Guard from 1950 until 1953. On June 5th, 1954, he married the love of his life, Johanna. Together, they raised four beloved children: Gregg, Renee, Peter, and Deana. He was fortunate to be blessed with eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.
Vincent owned and operated a successful restaurant, Johnny’s Truck Stop Diner, in Union Township, NJ, for many years, where he was honored as Businessman of the Year. A man of compassion and kindness, he volunteered with a work release program for inmates, helping them to rebuild their lives.
In his spare time, Vincent enjoyed cooking, gardening, hosting pool parties and holidays, and spending winters in Florida with family and friends. He loved dining out, attending gatherings, going on family vacations, reading a good history book, watching movies, and reading the NY Post daily. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family, creating lasting memories.
Vincent will be deeply missed by his sons, Gregg Luberto and his wife Cheryl, and Peter Luberto; his daughters, Renee Margaritonda and her husband Gary, Deana VanDoren and her husband Ben; as well as his eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Elisa Luberto; his cherished wife, Johanna Luberto; and his brother, William Luberto.
Friends and family are invited to visit with Vincent’s loved ones on Monday, February 3rd, from 4:00 until 7:00PM at the Martin Funeral Home, located at 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February, 4th at 10:00AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale NJ 08801. Entombment with Military Honors will follow the mass at the Immaculate Conception Mausoleum.
