Nancy Winter

Obituary of Nancy Bartle Winter

Nancy Bartle Winter passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Saturday February 8th, 2025, at the age of 69. She was born on February 20th, 1955, to Dr. Francis and Margaret Bartle in Montgomery, New York.

She was salutatorian of her high school graduating class and a collegiate basketball player at SUNY Albany. After completing her M.S. at Rutgers University in Statistics, her first job as a statistician was at the Merck Pharmaceutical Company in NJ. Nancy changed jobs and worked at Bristol Myers-Squibb in NJ as a statistician and Clinical Research Associate where she met her husband, Bill Winter, on a BMS company softball team. Bill and Nancy lived in Clinton NJ with their children for most of their marriage and were to be married 35 years in June 2025. Nancy devoted her life to being a mother - raising and providing a wonderfully beautiful and loving life for her three adopted children, Alex Marie, Evan and Mark.

Nancy was an exceptionally bright, witty, gracious, and loving person. She treated everyone equally and with sincere kindness and compassion. She loved spending time with her children, playing games, dancing, vacationing annually in Eastham, Cape Cod and enjoying time at her family cabin in the Catskills. She regularly went for walks, sang silly songs and spent time tending to her plants.

Nancy fought a brave fight with cancer throughout which she remained a soft and gentle human despite the difficulty of this battle. She fought with grace not for the recognition from others, but for the peace of her family.

Nancy is survived by her mother, Margaret, her six siblings, Janice, Guy, JoAnne, Mary, Michael, and Eric, along with her husband and her three children. She will remain the favorite aunt of all her nieces and nephews. She was loved deeply by many and her ability to bring brightness and laughter to all occasions will be deeply missed.
