Obituary of Eleonore Gerda Janin
Eleonore G. Janin passed away peacefully on February 14th at the age of 85 in her home in Bethlehem Township, New Jersey, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on March 4, 1939, in Pforzheim, Germany, Eleonore was the daughter of Marie (Probst) and Oskar Hubbuch.
Eleonore was the devoted wife of John J. Janin, who passed away in 2010. She was also the loving mother of John O. Janin and Sheila Janin Breckheimer.
Eleonore is survived by her children, John O. Janin and his wife Bernardina (Milano); Sheila Janin Breckheimer and her husband, Mark Breckheimer; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
John P. Janin and his wife Mackenzie (Lawson) & Scarlett Monroe and John Sebastian; Alex D. Janin; Brandon T. Janin and his wife Carly (Rimsky) & Jaxson and Meadow; and Megan Milano & Carlina and Dominico.
Eleonore was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Janin; her sister, Lillian Koehn; and her brothers-in-law, Andreas Koehn and Richard McDermott.
Eleonore grew up in Waldrennach, Germany, and later moved to the United States in 1957. In Staten Island, she met and married John, with whom she shared a remarkable partnership throughout their lives. Together, they built a successful business, CWI Kitchens and Baths in Lebanon, New Jersey, which they operated for 30 years before retiring.
In her free time, Eleonore was always on the move. She enjoyed gardening, tinkering around the house, and cooking everyone’s favorite meals. Whenever we visited, she would always greet us with a glass of champagne. Importantly, she was a smart, strong, kind person and a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
The family extends a special thank you to Agathar Akai for her unwavering love and kindness towards our mother for nine years. We were all so fortunate to have her in our lives.
Eleonore G Janin’s (Oma) celebration of life will be held on March 15, 2025. The committal service will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church mausoleum in Annandale, New Jersey. A brunch will follow immediately at the family home 40 Thomas Road, Glen Gardner, New Jersey.
