Obituary of Denise Patricia Black
Denise Patricia (nee McGuire) Black, age 61, of Flemington, NJ, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025. She was born on May 30, 1963, in Bronx, NY, to Maureen and the late Richard McGuire.
A 1981 graduate of Sayerville High School, Denise received the Reece Smith Prize for Excellence in Humanities and was peer-nominated for her remarkable contributions to the study and advancement of human thought, culture, and ethics. A devoted mother, she dedicated her life to raising her three children: Richard, Bridget, and Kelly. Even as they grew older, she made it a point to check in regularly, ensuring they always knew she was there if they needed her.
Denise was a rebellious, free-spirited, loving, and caring woman. She cherished watching the morning sunrise while sipping coffee and enjoying a cigarette. Outdoor activities, particularly gardening, brought her joy, but she could also be found spending time indoors with a new show or movie. Cooking was another passion, she especially her beloved hot wings! Her competitive nature shone through during card and board games, where she was known to sneakily hide a card or two when no one was looking. Always a good listener, she offered a compassionate ear to anyone in need.
Denise is predeceased by her father, Richard McGuire, and her sister, Doreen McGuire.
She will be forever missed by her children, Richard Black, Bridget Herbert, and Kelly Black; her mother, Maureen McGuire; and her sister, Maureen Helfer.
All services at this time will be held privately by the family.
