Obituary of Deanna G Perry

Deanna G. Perry, age 84, of Flemington, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Born in Morristown on July 1, 1940, Deanna was the daughter of the late Lessie and Charles Perry. She grew up in Morristown and graduated magna cum laude from Centenary College in 1983. She later earned her Master's degree from Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Deanna dedicated her career to teaching special education at Hunterdon Central Regional High School, where she served for many years before retiring. She was especially proud of each and every one of her students, cherishing the opportunity to make a difference in their lives.

Following college, Deanna spent two years in Malawi serving with the Peace Corps, an experience that allowed her to see much of Africa and deepened her appreciation for different cultures.

Deanna was a woman of Christian faith and was most recently a member of the Clinton Presbyterian Community. In her leisure time, she enjoyed writing, swimming, tennis, gardening, the arts, and traveling. She especially loved her trips to North Carolina, Delaware, and, of course, Africa.

She was a loving mother to Curt Schwab, Glenn Schwab and his wife Kathleen, and Julia Schwab. Deanna is also survived by her beloved sister, Joan Eisen and her cherished grandchildren, Amanda and Joseph Schwab.  She also leaves behind her grand dog, Bunny, who brought her great joy.  She was predeceased by her parents, Lessie and Charles Perry, her sisters Patricia Newcomb and Carole Matusaitis, and her brother Charles Perry. 

Details for a memorial service will be shared at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance and celebration of a life well-lived.

Deanna’s memory will be forever cherished by those who knew and loved her.
