Obituary of Arthur Norman Grohgans

Arthur Norman Grohgans, age 90, of Stewartsville, NJ, surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, in Pittstown, NJ.

Born on August 23, 1934, in Newark, NJ, Arthur was the beloved son of the late Arthur and Emilie (née Honig) Grohgans. He was a proud graduate of Irvington High School, Class of 1952, and went on to lead a long and dedicated career, first as a stereotyper and supervisor at the Star-Ledger and Newark News and later retiring after 27 years of service, as a Principal clerk with United Parcel Service.

On May 13, 1956, Arthur married the love of his life, Jean (née Keselica). Their union was a lasting testament to devotion and partnership, spanning 64 years and built on mutual respect and affection. Together, they lovingly raised two children, Kenneth and Diane, and built a family that remained the center of Arthur’s world.

Arthur had a deep appreciation for the outdoors.  Whether it was boating, fishing, hunting, or camping, he found joy and tranquility in nature.  A talented  self taught woodworker, he spent countless hours crafting with care and creativity. As a Boy Scout Troop 3 leader Arthur shared his passion for the outdoors and woodworking while mentoring the many boys and young men in his troop. Yet, his greatest joy was found in the company of his family—especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren—with whom he shared many cherished moments and lasting memories.

Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Grohgans, and his parents, Arthur and Emilie.

He is survived by his devoted son, Kenneth Grohgans, and his wife, Joanne; his loving daughter, Diane Latino, and her husband, Anthony; his grandchildren, Brian, Christopher, Anthony, Sean, and Nicole; and his three great-grandchildren, who brought him so much happiness and pride.

Arthur’s quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
