Obituary of Walter Francis Murray
February 15, 1943 – May 14, 2025
Walter Francis Murray, age 82, of Annandale, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025. Born on February 15, 1943, in the Bronx, NY, Walter was the beloved son of the late Walter and Ethel (née McCandless) Murray.
A proud graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School, Class of 1960, Walter went on to build a successful career as a computer programmer with New York Life Insurance in Lebanon, NJ. Known for his keen intellect and attention to detail, he brought dedication and excellence to his work.
Walter had a deep love for music and was a proud member of the Hank Williams Fan Club. A lifelong vinyl record collector, he found joy in the rich sound of classic records and the stories they held. He was also an avid reader, constantly seeking knowledge and immersing himself in literature. A devoted sports fan, he cheered passionately for the Green Bay Packers and the New York Yankees throughout his life.
Above all, Walter cherished his family. He was a devoted father to his three children—Kristine, Daniel, and Jennifer and a loving grandfather to four grandchildren and great grandfather. His home was filled with warmth, music, and books, and his presence was a constant source of comfort and wisdom.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved companion, Judith, with whom he shared many cherished years.
Walter will be forever missed by his children, Kristine Murray, Jennifer Rush and Daniel Murray; his grandchildren, Kristina Bauman, Reese Hasankolli, Tori Hasankolli, and Lucan Hasankolli; his great grandchild, Eamon Mazin; and his siblings, Pat Muller, Jimmy Murray, Bobby Murray and Eileen Murray.
