Obituary of Faith Hope Stasyshyn
July 14, 1929 – June 22, 2025
Faith Hope Baker Stasyshyn passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, in Flemington, NJ, after 95 beautiful years of a life well lived.
Born on July 14, 1929, in Elizabeth, NJ, she was the beloved daughter of the late Carl and Margaret (Yekel) Baker. She was raised in Bakerville, Union Township, in the area now known as the northeast section of Spruce Run Reservoir. A proud graduate of High Bridge High School, Faith went on to marry the love of her life, William Anthony Stasyshyn, on July 24, 1948. Together, they shared 37 cherished years of marriage until his passing.
Faith devoted much of her life to caring for others, both personally and professionally. She worked as a teacher’s aide for children with disabilities at Hampton Elementary School and served with compassion at both the Flemington Presbyterian Church and the Hunterdon Developmental Center, retiring in 1994.
Deeply rooted in her community, Faith was a longtime member of the Norton Church, having transferred from Clinton United Methodist Church in the late 1960s. She was actively involved in various church committees and volunteered alongside her daughter, Susan, at the Norton Thrift Shop for many years. She found great joy in her senior groups, local bus trips, and adventures—including parasailing in Hawaii. Her Friday nights were often spent playing cards with friends and family, a simple tradition she treasured.
Faith was the heart of her family. She was the matriarch, the holiday host, the family historian, and the first person anyone called for advice—whether it was about gardening, animal care, home remedies, or what to make for dinner. She spent much of her life lovingly caring for others and never let anyone leave her home without a meal.
She is survived by her four devoted children: James (Debra) Stasyshyn, Susan (James) DeRemer, Robin (Patti Kerr) Stasyshyn, and Timothy (Janet Gaeta) Stasyshyn; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way. Also surviving is her brother, Robert W. Baker of Florida, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Faith was predeceased by her siblings: Carl F. Baker, Margaret Baker Roberts, George J. Baker, Peter P. Baker, Nicholas J. Baker, and Violet M. Baker Grecco.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 27th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, all at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ 08809. Interment will follow at Norton Cemetery on Charlestown Road. To send condolences, please visit www.martinfh.com.
