Obituary of George Ludwig Nagle
In Loving Memory
October 25, 1930 – June 30, 2025
George Ludwig Nagle, age 94, of Cresco, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 30, 2025, in East Stroudsburg, PA. A devoted husband, proud father, cherished grandfather, and great-grandfather, George lived a full and extraordinary life marked by love, creativity, and quiet strength.
Born on October 25, 1930, in Rahway, New Jersey, to George and Rose Nagle, George graduated high school in 1949 and went on to attend technical school for design drafting—a field in which he would build a long and distinguished career. For over four decades, George served as a Design Drafting Manager at Schering-Plough (later Merck) in Union, NJ, where he was known for his meticulous eye and leadership. His inventive spirit extended beyond his profession: he was awarded a U.S. patent for a board game he designed, aptly named King Tut.
George served proudly in the U.S. Army for three and a half years, a time that shaped his values and deepened his appreciation for life and service. On September 8, 1956, he married the love of his life, Doris Helen (née Jones), beginning a partnership of nearly 70 beautiful years. Together, they built a family rooted in mutual respect, adventure, and unwavering love.
He was endlessly proud of his two sons, George J. Nagle and Steve A. Nagle, and found immense joy in watching his family grow. George had a lifelong passion for learning and hobbies. Among his many interests were flying—he took lessons and soloed a plane—collecting cars, motorcycles, airplanes, and antiques. His curiosity and enthusiasm were infectious.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Doris; his sons and their wives, George J. (Marcy) and Steve A. (Eileen); granddaughters Jennifer, Amanda, and Brittany; and great-grandchildren Brynn and Maya Levash, Hayden and Skylar Streit, and Lucas Wyker. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Rose Nagle, and his brothers, Howard, Ross, and Wilbur Melick.
Friends and relatives will be received on Sunday, July 13th from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home, located at 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 14th at 10:00AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Union Cemetery at Grandin, located on Race Street in Pittstown.
