Obituary of Maryanne Rambo

In Loving Memory of Maryanne Rambo
August 22, 1932 – July 23, 2025

Maryanne Rambo, 92, of Califon, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home on July 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 22, 1932, in Long Island, New York, she was the cherished daughter of George Weir of Glasgow, Scotland, and Eleanor May Renwick of Utica, NY.

A proud graduate of Butler High School, Class of 1949, Maryanne went on to pursue her passion for education at Paterson State Teaching College. Her life’s journey was filled with many meaningful roles — from caterer, party planner, cook, and deli assistant at Rambo’s General Store in Califon, to manager of Step Rite Shoes in Flemington, and beloved swimming instructor. She was a proud athlete, having earned a varsity letter in basketball, and a woman of deep and abiding faith, devoted to her Church of the Nazarene family in Annandale.

On August 13, 2005, Maryanne married the love of her life, Leonard Walter Rambo. Together, they built a life centered on joy, faith, and family — a life remembered fondly in the laughter shared and the cherished tradition of their unforgettable Memorial Day picnics.

Maryanne was a woman of many passions: a voracious reader, enthusiastic traveler, music lover, masterful cook, vibrant gardener, and joyful “water bug” who found peace in the pool. But above all, she was a woman of fierce and unconditional love. She lived with intention, grace, and compassion, pouring her heart into her roles as a devoted wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her seven children, seventeen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren — each a living testament to her boundless love and legacy. To know Maryanne was to feel loved, accepted, and wholly cherished.
