Obituary of Joyce Carlson

Joyce C. Carlson, 93, of Califon, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Little Brook Nursing Home.
Born on November 1, 1931, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Joyce was the beloved daughter of George and Lucy Colestock. She grew up with a love for creativity that led her to graduate from Barringer High School and later from the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art.
On August 10, 1966, Joyce married the love of her life, James Carlson. Together, they shared nearly six decades of love, devotion, and companionship. Joyce built a long and fulfilling career as a professional artist and illustrator, where her talent and creativity touched many lives.
Deeply engaged with her community, Joyce was a proud member of the Califon Historical Society for many years. She valued preserving history as much as she did creating beauty through her art.
Joyce will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her artistic gift, and her love for family. She is survived by her husband, James Carlson, as well as many nieces and nephews who cherished her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Shirley Miller.
