Obituary of John Robert Clark, Jr.
February 25, 1945 – November 15, 2025
John Robert Clark, Jr. age 80, of Asbury, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on November 15, 2025. Born in Carteret, NJ, on February 25, 1945, John was the son of the late John Robert Clark and Marion (née Boden) Clark.
John grew up in Woodbridge, NJ, and graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1964. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
Family meant everything to John. He married his beloved wife, Christine, and together they shared 51 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, partnership, and countless memories. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who found his greatest happiness in spending time with family.
John was deeply involved in youth athletics and left behind a legacy of mentorship, encouragement, and compassion. He spent many years coaching his daughters’ basketball and softball teams and later continued coaching girls AAU basketball and freshman basketball at Villa Walsh Academy. He was known for his patience, positive spirit, and ability to inspire confidence in young athletes. His players—and their families—remember him not just as a coach, but as someone who genuinely cared.
In his free time, John enjoyed collecting comic books and could often be found watching sports, especially basketball. He cherished time spent supporting his grandchildren, cheering them on at games and activities.
John is survived by his loving wife, Christine; his children, Megan (Clark) Yandoli and her husband Brian Yandoli, and Dana (Clark) Kuriakose and her husband Cyril Kuriakose; his cherished grandchildren, Dominic and Xavier Kuriakose and Hazel and Aubrey Yandoli; and his siblings, Roberta Clark, James Clark, Cynthia Clark, and Robert Clark. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John will be remembered for his kindness, humor, loyalty, and the devotion he carried for his family, community, and the young athletes whose lives he touched. His legacy of love and encouragement will live on in all who knew him.
Friends and relatives may visit with John’s family on Thursday, November 20th from 1:00 until 4:00 PM with words of remembrance beginning at 3:00PM all services will be held at Martin Funeral Home, located at 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809.
