Obituary of Brian Robert Monahan
November 18, 1963 – November 26, 2025
With great love and heavy hearts, we share the passing of Brian Robert Monahan, age 62, who passed away peacefully at his home on November 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 18, 1963, in Summit, NJ, Brian was the son of the late Walter and Carol Monahan.
Brian grew up in Hunterdon County and graduated from Voorhees High School in 1982, where he enjoyed playing football and forming lifelong friends. He later built a respected career in the automotive industry, working first with BMW dealerships before moving to Toyota and Mazda dealerships. Over the years he held leadership roles in automotive parts and services management, where his strong work ethic, humor, and dedication earned him numerous awards from BMW and the respect of colleagues across the industry.
On April 23, 1989, Brian married the love of his life, Cindy. Together they built a home and the joy of raising their three children, Nicholas, Dillon, and Claudia—and later welcoming their grandson, Levi. Brian cherished being a father, and becoming “Grandpa” brought him tremendous pride.
Outside of work, Brian found joy in the outdoors. He was an avid deer, turkey, and pheasant hunter and a long-standing member of the Hunterdon Hills Gun Club, where he also attended many annual fishing derbies with his friends and family. He enjoyed watching westerns, cheering on NASCAR, and drafting fantasy football teams, a hobby that brought both spirited competition and plenty of laughs.
Brian also had a creative side in the kitchen; he loved cooking for his family whether baking homemade cookies and pies or creating his famous pheasant soup. Animals held a special place in his heart, especially dogs, and his home was never without a loyal four-legged companion.
Brian will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Cindy; his children, Nicholas, Dillon and his wife, Miranda, and Claudia; his grandson Levi; and his brothers, Mike, Gary, and Kevin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Carol.
Brian’s legacy lives on in the memories shared, the laughter he brought, and the love he gave so freely. His presence will forever be felt by those who knew him—through the stories told, the traditions carried on, and the bonds he helped create.
Monetary donations in Brian’s memory may be made to the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Martin Funeral Home, Clinton NJ. To share memories with Brian’s family please visit www.martinfh.com
