Obituary of Richard Anthony Cavallaro

Richard Anthony Cavallaro, age 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep.  Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Linda Cavallaro.

Richard graduated from Xavier High School in 1953 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Fordham University. Following college, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country for two years, achieving the rank of Captain before his honorable discharge. Upon returning home, Richard reenrolled at Fordham University and earned his law degree.

Richard built a long and distinguished legal career on Wall Street, beginning with Merrill Lynch and later retiring from Smith Barney & Co. His work ethic, professionalism, and integrity were hallmarks of his career.

On October 5, 1968, in the Fordham Chapel, Richard married the love of his life, Andrea Cavallaro. Together, they shared 57 years of marriage and raised a beautiful family of two sons and two daughters. Richard was a devoted and loving husband and father who took great pride in his family.

A lifelong learner, Richard was a true history buff with a deep fascination for the Titanic and World War II, particularly the Pacific Theater. He also had a passion for classic automobiles and lovingly cared for his treasured 1941 Lincoln Continental as if it were a member of the family. Richard was an active member of the Saab Car Club as well as a classic car club, where he enjoyed sharing his love of the classics with fellow enthusiasts.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Andrea Cavallaro; his sons, Richard Cavallaro Jr. and Christopher James Cavallaro; his daughters, Andrea Lynn Cavallaro and Kathryn Anne Cavallaro; his grandchildren, Richard Cavallaro III, Gwyneth Rosemary Tullo, Bailey Elizabeth Cavallaro, Autumn Heather Tullo, and Conor Jameson Cavallaro; and his brother, Peter James Cavallaro.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Linda Cavallaro, and his siblings, Joseph Cavallaro, John Cavallaro, and Loretta Rusk.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, located at 1890 Washington Valley Road, Martinsville, New Jersey 08836. Interment will be held at a later date.
