Ralph Montagna

Obituary of Ralph S Montagna

Ralph S. Montagna, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, at the Getz Personal Care Home in Kunkletown, Pennsylvania.

Born and raised in Madison, New Jersey, Ralph was the beloved son of the late Anthony and Mary Montagna. On June 9, 1956, at Sacred Heart Church in Dover, NJ, he married the love of his life, Charlotte Montagna. Together they shared nearly 56 years of marriage and built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work while raising their two children, Joseph and Patricia.

Ralph was a devoted husband and a loving, hands-on father. He cherished every moment spent with his family and especially loved coaching his son’s Little League team, a role that brought him great pride and joy and reflected his deep commitment to his children.

In his early adulthood, Ralph worked for PSE&G as a foreman before serving in the Army National Guard. He later answered the call to serve his hometown by joining the Madison Police Department, where he dedicated 26 years of service to the community and retired with the rank of Lieutenant. Never one to sit still, Ralph also operated a small painting business on the side, always working hard to provide for his family.

Ralph had a natural talent for fixing things and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and repairing whatever needed attention. Some of his happiest memories were made during family vacations to the Jersey Shore, time he treasured above all else.

A man of deep faith, Ralph was a lifelong parishioner of St. Vincent’s Martyr Catholic Church and was also a proud member of the North Star Athletic Club in Madison.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Getz Personal Care Home for the compassion, care, and comfort shown to Ralph in his final days.

Ralph is survived by his daughter, Patricia Napolitano and her husband Rob; his son, Joseph Montagna and his wife Martha; his cherished grandchildren, Meghan Montagna, Melissa Montagna and her fiancée Ruandy, Michelle Dias and her husband Cameron, and Matthew Napolitano; and his sister, Ann Marie Ferrara. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Charlotte Montagna, and his brothers, Frank Montagna and Anthony Montagna.
