Obituary of Lillian Packer
Lillian Packer, age 98, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, after a long, full, and active life.
Lillian was born in 1927, in the Bronx, New York, to Gustav and Anna. As a child, she moved with her family to the countryside of Clinton, New Jersey, where she would remain a lifelong resident. She graduated from Clinton High School and devoted many years of service to the court system, working first in Flemington, New Jersey, and later as a court clerk for the Somerville courts.
Lillian met her husband, Ronald Packer, after his service in the United States Army during World War II. He was introduced to her by his sister Lois, who was one of Lillian’s close friends. They were married in 1950 and shared a devoted partnership for more than 60 years. Together they raised two children, Gail and Scott.
Lillian and Ron lived life to the fullest. After retiring at age 62, they spent many happy years traveling extensively in their trailer and visiting countries around the world, embracing new experiences along the way. Ron passed away in 2011 at the age of 89.
Lillian found great joy in her many interests. She was an accomplished bowler, an avid reader, and took pride in her gardens. Her energy, warmth, and spirited nature were evident to all who knew her. Affectionately known as “Schwester” by her siblings and “Aunt Schwes” by her nieces and nephews, Lillian delighted in the many nicknames she carried throughout her life, often sharing laughter with family and friends over the years.
Lillian was a proud grandmother to Cassie and a great-grandmother to Ayden. She is also survived by her sister, Adele, her brother, John and many beloved nieces, nephews, and their families.
In lieu of flowers or cards, donations in Lillian’s memory may be made to the Hunterdon County Senior Center, P.O. Box 2900, Flemington, NJ 08822
