Obituary of Frederick J. Fuess

Frederick J. Fuess, age 88, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ. Mr. Fuess was born March 18, 1925 in Waterville, NY, the son of the late William Louis and Eliza (Gall) Fuess. He was very proud of the fact that he was born and raised on the "family farm." Mr. Fuess was a resident of Clinton Twp., NJ for the past 18 years and previous to that, lived in Norwich, NY, Fort Plain, NY, Holland, MI and Winston-Salem, NC. Mr. Fuess graduated from Clarkson University in 1950 with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He was employed by National Dairy and by Lifesavers, Inc as Plant Engineer and Director of Engineering for many years before retiring. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, where he attained the rank of Tech Sergeant, serving as a flight engineer on B-24 bombers. Mr. Fuess was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Norwich, NY. He enjoyed large-scale model helicopter building, outdoors skiing and indoors roller skating, a good story - and he could tell them better than most - and most importantly, spending time with his family for whom he was a source of great joy. Fred is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Dorothy (Stewart), his daughter, Gayle Denne & her husband, Ed of Clinton Township. NJ; his sons; Douglas Fuess & his wife, Laura of Marcellus, NY, Jeffrey Fuess & his wife, Cynthia of Pottstown, PA. and Martin Fuess & his partner, David Fleischman of Pittsburgh, PA.; his cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Carrie, Alayna, Laney and Mariah; and his great granddaughter, Jocelyn. He was predeceased by his siblings; Raymond, Stuart, Roderick, Isabelle and Dorothy A private service will be held in the springtime in Mr. Fuess's boyhood home in Waterville, NY.
