Obituary of Helen Raymond Bertuccio

Helen Raymond Bertuccio, age 96, died peacefully at home on May 21 at Independence Manor, Flemington, NJ, surrounded by friends and family members. She was predeceased by her husband Sam in 2005, after 59 years of marriage. Helen was born in 1917 in Rockaway NJ, daughter of Walter H.T. Raymond and Louise Cilva Raymond. She was a graduate of Rockaway High School, Rockaway, NJ and attended Dover Business College, Dover, NJ. She was an office manager for several New Jersey companies during a long and distinguished business career. She and her husband Sam spent their working years in northern NJ residing in Denville, Parsippany, Green Brook, and Bound Brook before retiring and moving to Charles Town, West Virginia. Helen and Sam relocated to Independence Manor, Flemington, NJ in 2004. Helen was an avid duplicate bridge player and dedicated gardener and particularly enjoyed her "Jersey" tomatoes which she loving cultivated in a planter outside her room at Independence Manor. Her constant companion in her later years was her cat "Patches," a rescued "Iraqi "cat brought back to the United States by an Iraq veteran. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Wasylyshyn Raymond of Frederick, MD; several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews, and especially her niece, Judge Joan L. Mott of Hampton, NJ; and grand nieces, Lynn Mott Robinson, of Hampton; and Mary Mott Kocsis of Baptistown, NJ; whose devotion, love, and comfort Helen enjoyed over her last years. Interment will be private. She was predeceased by her sister Rose Raymond Stokes and her brothers Edmund, Sigmund, Frank, and Walter. A celebration of Helen's life will take place on Friday, June 27th at 3:00pm at Independence Manor, Route 31, Flemington. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Helen's memory may be sent to St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, (from which "Patches" was adopted) at 575 Woodland Avenue, P.O.
