Obituary of John M. Romei

John M. Romei, age 75, of Pittstown, NJ, passed away Friday, September 8, 2023, at home.  Born November 3, 1947, in Paterson, NJ, he was the son of the late John Romei and Celeste (née Guarino) Romei.

John graduated from PS 5 High School in Paterson, NJ.  He went on to attend Seton Hall University before joining the United States Air Force in 1969, serving his country as a Sergeant First Class.  Following his honorable discharge in 1972, John continued his education, graduating from Montclair State University, obtaining both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees.  John spent his entire career working for State Farm Insurance Company, where he started in the Wayne, NJ Regional Office and then opened a State Farm Agency in Hillsborough, NJ, until his retirement in 2013.   

John married the love of his life, Kathryn (nee Budgake) in 1997.  John had two children, David and Danja, whom he adored.  He was also blessed with four grandchildren; Emily, Daniel, Amanda, and Will, who he took great joy in.  John also cherished his two rescue dachshunds, Bear and Batman, and served as a volunteer for the, All American Dachshund Rescue.  

Family was the most important thing to John, and he loved spending time with them.  He loved to share countless stories and memories made with his loved ones and saved every memento of these special times in his life with family and friends.    

John will be forever missed by his loving wife, Kathryn Romei; son, David Romei and his wife Geri; daughter, Danja Munley and her husband John; grandchildren, Emily Romei, Daniel Romei, Amanda Munley, and Will Munley.

John is predeceased by his parents, John and Celeste Romei. He is survived by brothers; Alfred Romei of Toms River, NJ and Robert Romei (Teresa) of Pennsville, NJ.

Friends and family are invited to visit with John's family on Monday, September 18th from 1:00 until 4:00pm with US Air Force Honors starting at 4pm. All services will be held at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Rt. 31, Clinton, NJ 08809.  Interment will be held privately for the family.
