Richard Dalpe, Jr.

Obituary of Richard John Dalpe, Jr.

Richard John Dalpe Jr., age 68, of Lake Ariel, PA, passed away at home on January 9th, 2024. Born on March 12, 1955, he was son of Priscilla (Wright) Dalpe and the late Richard John Dalpe, Sr.

Rich was a 1973 graduate of North Hunterdon Regional High School located in Annandale, NJ. Rich’s athleticism enabled him to excel at both wrestling and football at North.  After graduation, he went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army as an Airborne Qualified soldier in the 82nd Airborne Division, where he earned the National Defense Medal of Honor.  Richard was an arborist and self-proclaimed “best tree climber” in Hunterdon County, who owned and operated Pro-Tree Service for over 40 years.

Richard and the love of his life, Leanne H. (nee DiTaranto) Dalpe, created a beautiful family together and raised their three children; Daniel, Richard, and Brandy Lynn, whom he adored.

A true family man, Rich cherished his time with his family.  When his kids were younger, he enjoyed coaching his sons' baseball team and being very active in his sons' cub scouts. As his kids got older, Richard enjoyed spending time with them and his grandchildren vacationing in Wildwood, NJ every year, weekends at Lake Hopatcong, and enjoying dinners out with family and friends. Richard was an outdoor enthusiast, boating at Lake Hopatcong, hunting, fly fishing, trapping, and participating in turkey shoots.  He would often spend time racing cars, attending car shows, antiquing, and going to trading posts.   In his final years, he took great pleasure in living with his wife and family on Lake Wallenpaupak, visiting his mom and vacationing in Tampa, FL, Disney, attending Military Air Shows at Pocono Raceway, Nascar at the Poconos, and local fairs. He could often be found relaxing with a casual cocktail in hand or a night cap.

Richard stood out in a crowd, had an iron fist but a heart of gold. He will be forever remembered as a devoted husband and family man, always cherishing the moments and memories he created with them.

Richard will be forever missed by his beloved wife, Leanne (nee DiTaranto) Dalpe; his three children, Daniel P. DiTaranto, Richard J. Dalpe III, and Brandy Lynn Dalpe; his adoring mother, Priscilla Dalpe; brother, Kevin Dalpe; sisters, Robin Ireland, and Paige Pistritto; his two beautiful grandchildren, Colson Jayden Dalpe and Harlyie Jade Dalpe who he loved and adored; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Richard is predeceased by his father, Richard John Dalpe Sr. and his sister, Lisa Jean Moore.

Services will be held privately at this time, with inurnment and military honors to be held at a later date, in Arlington National Cemetery. To send  condolences to the family please visit, www.martinfh.com
