Obituary of Patricia A. Schriver

Patricia A. Schriver , of Glen Gardner NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 surrounded by her loving friends, she was 79. Born July 20, 1936 to the late Elmer H. and Evelyn Bream Schriver A native of Gettysburg, PA, Pat graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. degree in Recreation Education. Following graduation she served as Director of Teenage Programs for the YM-YWCA of Westfield, N.J. and later as Executive Director of Four Seasons Outdoor Center in Califon. In 1981 she joined Custom Alloy Corporation in High Bridge where she was the Vice President of Support Services until the time of her death. Pat loved her Lebanon Township community and took a very active role in volunteering. She was a Lebanon Township Committee member for 33 years, serving as Mayor for six terms. Pat was one of the visionaries for the development of the Lebanon Township Memorial Park, where she was a member of the Memorial Park Committee since 1995. Pat was also Founder and past president of the Board of Trustees of the North Hunterdon Senior Center, served as trustee of the Hunterdon Learning Center, and Board member of the Hunterdon County YMCA and was recognized as their volunteer of the year in 2003. Past president of the Hunterdon County Municipal Officers Association and in 2014 was inducted into the N.J. State League of Municipalities Elected Officials Hall of Fame. In June 2015, Pat was recognized for her thirty-three years of giving to Lebanon Township at its annual recognition gathering. As an active alumna of Penn State, she volunteered her time to the University as a Board member , College of Health and Human Development and Coordinator of the Penn State Alumni Admissions Program in northern Hunterdon and Warren counties. She was also a member of the northern NJ Penn State Alumni Chapter. Pat is survived by her brother Roland Schriver (Nancy) of Pittsburgh, PA, nieces Kimberly Schriver of Pittsburgh, PA and Marjorie Schriver of Charlotte, NC and nephew John Schriver of Columbus, OH. Pat enjoyed the outdoors and caring for her lawn and gardens. She was a mentor to many young people, many of whom called her "Aunt Pat". She was an avid fan of Penn State football, and is well known for the tailgate parties she hosted with her friends, Jessica and Andy Miller. Consistent with her legacy of community service, Pat opted to donate her body to Harvard Medical School to aid in medical research She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends, and a memorial service to celebrate Pat's life will be held on May 21, 2016 at 10:30am at Lebanon Township Memorial Park, 67 Bunnvale Road, Califon NJ 07830.
