Ruth Slominski

Obituary of Ruth M. Slominski

Ruth M. Slominski, age 86, of New Hampton NJ, died Monday, May 23, 2016 at home surrounded by her family. Ruth was born October 20, 1929 in Pittsfield, MA. She is the daughter of the late William and the late Catherine (Mae) Dame. Ruth was the widow of Ed Slominski Sr. who passed away in 2004 after 58 years of marriage. For the last 65 years she was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Hampton. Ruth is survived by two daughters: Maureen Petersen and her late husband Bob of Naples, FLA and Doreen and her husband Tom Bleck of Woodglen, NJ, and one son: Edward Jr. and his wife Lori Slominski of Hackettstown, NJ; She also is survived by her grandchildren; Dawn, Denise, Bobby, Danielle, Jaimie, Tommy, Molly and Sarah; Great Grandchildren, Jakob, Jack, Gage and Edith. Ruth and her husband Ed were the ultimate pioneers leaving the city of Newark moving to the mountains of Hunterdon over 60 years ago. Working together they built their own home from foundation to roof, inside and out, electrical and plumbing, to create a beautiful home for their family. After retiring they travelled from coast to coast, California, Atlanta, Chicago and their favorite spot Naples, Florida. Ruth was funny, feisty, and fabulous and was a loyal and true friend to anyone she knew and an ultimate animal lover. To capture the essence of Ruth, one only has to look at her unconditional love, support and devotion to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She never missed a game, girl's basketball, Little League, school talent shows, recitals, plays, and any and all events that involved her family. To say she will be greatly missed is an understatement, but the family has gained the most amazing guardian angel in heaven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday June 11, 2016 at 10:00 am at The Church of St. Ann, 6 Church Street in Hampton NJ. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet directly at church. Arrangements are under the care of Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809.
