Obituary of Albert Recknagel
Albert Recknagel, age 83, of Bethlehem Pa died on April 19, 2019 at Blough Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Bethlehem Pa. Albert was born in Linden NJ on July 23, 1935 to his dear parents Marie (Ludwig) and Maxwell Recknagel. Albert spent the early years of his life residing in Linden NJ before moving to Whitehouse Station NJ. He spent the majority of his life in Whitehouse Station NJ before settling in for the past 16 years in Bethlehem Pa.
Albert was innovative and had an amazing business sense. He was a good judge of character and had life knowledge. If you needed advice Albert was the person to go to. He could discuss any issue in life and provide valuable guidance and advice. He was a very likeable man who had a funny way about him. He had the personality of a salesperson and would go out of his way and give the shirt off his back if asked. Albert touched many lives along his journey and will be remembered by all. Albert was the owner of a Heating and Air Conditioning Company called Meyer and Depew located in Kenilworth NJ. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy between the years of 1954 and 1958. Albert enjoyed a hobby that lasted over 45 years of collecting and displaying model trains. Over the years as his collection grew so did his display of his hobby. Albert was a very intelligent man and another hobby he had was building model sized working steam engines. He drew drawings indicating step by step how he built these engines. Albert loved to eat well and drink well and just spend time with those he loved He was a loving husband, an amazing father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. .He especially loved the joy of his life as no words could describe, his granddaughter, Vanessa Recknagel.
Albert is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Recknagel and son in law John Opiyo of Bethlehem Pa, a son Kenneth Recknagel of Flemington NJ, his loving granddaughter Vanessa Recknagel and one brother Frederick and sister in law Jeanne Recknagel of Santa Rosa California.
He was predeceased by his parents and his wife of 43 yrs, Laverne (Lawlor) Recknagel in 2010.
A viewing will take place on Thursday April 25, 2019 between 10:00am and 12:00pm at the Martin Funeral Home 1761 Route 31 Clinton NJ 08809. Committal prayers will be said at the Immaculate Conception Mausoleum 316 Old Allerton Road Annandale NJ 08801 at 12:30pm.
