John Tosco, Jr.

Obituary of John Charles Tosco, Jr.

John Charles Tosco Jr, age 63, of Union Township, New Jersey died on Easter Sunday April 21, 2019. He was born to his loving parents Jane (Scannicchio) and John Charles Tosco Sr in Somerville, NJ on December 5, 1955. He graduated from Immaculata High School before receiving an associate's degree in Architecture from Mercer College and a bachelor's degree in Engineering from The New Jersey Institute of Technology. Out of college he started working for Henderson Construction Co. in Raritan as an engineer; however, he had great ambitions and moved forward to start his own company of Tosco Builders in Union Township, NJ as a custom homebuilder. Later John along with a few partners built and operated the Country Club Self Storage in High Bridge NJ.

John met the love of his life, Barbara (Cook) Tosco, and the two have shared 38 years of marriage. John built their family home, which they and their children have lived in for 27 years. In addition he built the entire surrounding neighborhood; show casing his incredible skilled craftsmanship. His home was one of his greatest accomplishments and treasures, which his family has greatly enjoyed.

Aside from family, construction and the great outdoors, were his passion. He was especially proud to be a member of the Maine Professional Guide Association, working at the Bear Lane Guide Service as a Registered Maine Guide. In addition, he was president of the Woodtown Gun Club in Pike County, PA, where he also boasted his passion for hunting.

His many skills made John the ultimate handyman. He was known by all of his friends and family to be able to fix anything. He would persevere until he solved whatever issue or situation was presented to him. He was the go to guy who was always willing to help anyone at any time.

John's family was his priority. He and Barbara raised two sons, John Charles Tosco III (Johnny) and Stephen Tosco. Stephen enjoyed the companionship of his father and the two would spend time working in the yard, as well tinkering with projects. His older son Johnny had a beautiful baby girl three years ago who became the light of John's world as his only grandchild. Johnny, Brittany and Syrena brought a great deal of love and enjoyment to the Tosco home as they all celebrated milestones, holidays and events together. John was an affectionate grandfather who just adored the time he spent with his granddaughter. John was there for Syrena every day assisting her on and off the bus, playing in the yard and taking her out for treats.

John is survived by his wife Barbara (Cook) Tosco, two sons John Charles Tosco III and Stephen Tosco, daughter-in-law Brittany Tosco, mother Jane A. (Scannicchio) Tosco, brother Thomas Tosco, niece Becca Tosco, uncle Pat Tosco, and the light in his eye, grand-daughter Syrena Tosco, all of Union Township, NJ.

His father John Charles Tosco Sr predeceased him.
