Nancy L. Schaufele

Obituary of Nancy L. Schaufele

Nancy L. Schaufele (nee Ives) passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 after battling cancer and related complications for the past four years. Nancy was a cancer survivor having lived an eventful 25 plus years after beating breast cancer in 1986. From 1974 to 2007, she served the High Bridge School system as Secretary to the Superintendent. Nancy lived with courage, hope, and tenacity; treating life's major obstacles as mere bumps in the road. Her perseverance rubbed off on everyone that knew her, as did the ferocity of her personality. If you met her once, you knew how much she loved her family and and adored her two children and three grandchildren. Nancy always urged them to do their best and cheered them on athletic events and dance recitals. Nancy was always on the go, staying active at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Hunterdon Walking Club and Hiking Club, Relay for Life, High Bridge Women's Club; and she never missed a family gathering. Her family, friends, and relationships were the driving force in her life and her spirit will live on through each of us. She is survived by her children: Laura (Russell) Danson of Asbury (Bethlehem, NJ) and Brian Johnson of San Diego, California; granddaughters: Taylor, Haley, and Lindsey Danson of Asbury, NJ; three sisters: Wendy Franczak of Toms River, NJ, Holly Ives of Summit, NJ, and Linda Kurdilla of Union, NJ. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Delano and Doris (Barton) Ives of Cranford, NJ and her late husband Walt Schaufele of Lebanon, NJ. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit on November 3rd at 11am. A reception at the church will follow where family and friends are invited to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society.
