Obituary of Gottfried Pletzer

Gottfried "Bushy" Pletzer, age 90, of Lebanon Twp., NJ died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the House of The Good Shepherd in Hackettstown, NJ. Mr. Pletzer was born January 11, 1922 in Turtle Creek, Pa. He was the son of the late Johann and the late Cilli (Maricher) Pletzer. He proudly served his country in United States Army for more than 20 years and attained the rank of Major. While serving his country during WWII, he received 2 bronze stars, the medal of outstanding service and the Albanian double eagle medal. Gottfried was an avid sportsman and while serving his country in Europe, he was a hunting & fishing instructor for our US Armed forces. He also participated in Graves Registration for the US military. He received a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland in 1966. He continued his career by serving as personnel director of St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ for many years. He resided in Lebanon Twp., NJ since 1924 and was known to his many friends as "Bushy". He will be remembered by all as a "people person" with a very unique sense of humor. Gottfried served as mayor of Lebanon Twp., NJ several times and he was also a township committeeman and served as President of the township's Board of Health. Many from Lebanon Twp. and Washington fondly remember "Bushy" as Santa Claus from their childhood. He is survived by his dear friend, Margaret Miskowitz of Glen Gardner, NJ his nieces , Ann Glessman & Sally Corbin, and many grand & great nieces & nephews. Gottfried's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Friday, November 30th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm & from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be an additional visitation on Saturday morning December 1st from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am also at the funeral home. The Interment will follow at the Spruce Run Cemetery in Lebanon Twp., NJ.
