Obituary of J. Richard Hughes
John Richard Hughes, age 73, of Whitehouse Station and formerly of Cranford, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007, with his wife Roberta by his side, at Hunterdon Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of John and Loretta (Zwigard) Hughes. Mr. Hughes grew up in Irvington, attended Regis High School in New York city, and graduated from Seton Hall University.
A Latin teacher for 50 years, he taught at Irvington High School, Bridgewater High School and was a professor at Seton Hall University. He also coached Varsity Basketball for Irvington High School from 1960-1968.
He is survived by his beloved Wife: Roberta, his brothers: Thomas and Robert; His Loving Children: Richard, Michael, Nancy, Jeanne, Robert, Joseph, Caryl, Nancy, Patricia, James; and his 23 Grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his parents John and Loretta Hughes, his sister: Anne Dreher and his wife: Joan Hughes.
Friends and family may visit Thursday, March 1, 2007 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ.
The funeral will be held on Friday, March 2nd at 10:00am at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, 2 White Bridge Road, Pittstown. Burial will be in Hollywood Memorial Park in Union following the Mass.
