It was always a pleasure when Roy came with Kate to visit us in Massachusetts. and later on his last trip alone, as usual, he enchanted the family with his many stories told in that charming Continental way of his. We shall miss him and Kate also, but shall cherish the memories of our times together. - Dianne and Keith and family. our

I think of Uncle Guido and it brings a smile to my face. Most of all I enjoyed his stories told just his way. I remember laughing so hard my sides would ache. Thank you Uncle Guido for the many stories and laughs they just mean family to me.

I am very roughly translating with my limited knowledge of Italian and with permission of LInda, some of the condolences letters in Italian.
From Nenella, lovella, enrico, nicola, and emanuele sent this letter:
Dear Linda, Probably [we hope} our words of comfort after the sad news will not cause your grief to be felt anew but rather comforted. In this moment it is hard also for us to express in words to you our desire that the brotherly sisterly bond which held us will hold us together for all of our lives. We are close, dear linda, sending an affectionate embrace.

Dearest Linda,
As we have grown closer I think of you as a sister more than a cousin and as a friend. Please remember that you always have a home away from home at my house. You are a member of my most immediate family. May God comfort and bless you.

I remember my Uncle Guido as a person who could make everyone at the table laugh and fascinate everyone with interesting conversation. As a vignette. It was the fact that he sold me his buick for 2.00 that helped me to get through my college years. The car was born the same year I was but it ran due to Guido's care of it. After I left the trappist monastery, I began a belated friendship with my Uncle that grew with time. Guido was an extraordinarily intelligent man and it was a pleasure to converse with him historian as he was of our family. Guido was truly a cosmopolitan and distinguished man and at times as some might say of me, quite a character. I was deeply grieved to hear of his demise but knew that he missed his dear wife of many years and was in a rush to be reunited to her. The fact that he passed away of a massive heart attack was somewhat telling of the fact that his passing was pretty much an affair of the heart. I have two consoling thoughts about his death. The first is that it was a very quick one thanks to the loving decision of his daughter to honor his wishes to not be kept going artificially. The second is that he is not separated from the love of his life anymore. Katherine made a heaven on earth for all around her and I think he missed that heaven until he could be with her again. May his soul find a place of peace, joy and love very near Katherine who can now at last console him.
