So many, many memories of a truly unique woman. Dawn knew so much about her disease which makes her legacy even greater, she knew the cure was not there yet and she used her spirit, education, determination, heart and soul to fight for a cure for LMS. What a lesson to all of us to never give up in the face of adversity. Dawn was my neighbor, my friend and a true inspiration, I miss her every day and knowing that she touched the lives of so many people is a source of joy for me. Dawn always planned the fun at every event starting with the MOMS CLUB, Girl Scouts and our neighborhood. I can't imagine a Halloween without Dawn but I know she taught us all to love that day and expect some tricks!!! Courtney and Tyler, keep up that spirit and remember all of those extraordinary events your Mom planned for you and for others, we love you and are there for you.

I only heard about Dawn once I was diagnosed but knew she was an absolutely fantastic young lady, full of enthusiasm who did so much for the LMS cause. I read in the papers about the fella who ran the marathon for her in Boston. She will certainly be really missed but was very courageous and touched the lives of so many people. We both used Dr. Chi at Sloan for our surgeries. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.

Even though we only saw you all once a year at Hugfest, we feel like you all are an extended family. I'm so sorry...and have you all in our thoughts & prayers during this most difficult time. I will hold her face & smile in my memory; I enjoyed searching her, Jen and her mom out each Hugfest. And sharing a bowling alley with Dawn's family last year was an added plus! It's really hard to say anything more that hasn't already been said by everyone to this point. I've known Dawn since 3rd grade in Connecticut Farms in Union. It was always funny how we went down very similar pharmacy career paths. I remember back in 5th grade, we both used to push each other from a competitive standpoint in class (in 5th grade-can you believe that?) We both made each other better. Dawn always had the knack to bring out the best in those around her. Dawn will be truly missed by all who knew her. Her strength and courage during her battle with cancer over the past 5 years was truly inspiring and taught us all a lesson on how to live life to its fullest even in the face of adversity. Knowing Dawn, she's probably already working hard on plans for making heaven a better place for us when we get there. To Jeff, Courtney, Tyler and the entire Peragallo/Croce families- I hope you find comfort in knowing that Dawn is no longer suffering and in a better place. Our prayers will always be with all of you.

A letter of memory of Dawn to her family and loved ones...
I first met Dawn at my first HugFest in 2005. I had just recovered from a liver resection and she spent time with me discussing her experiences and answering questions I had about my journey. I was struck by her beauty, intelligence and her willingness to help me and others. She dedicated many hours raising funds for awareness and research with the help and love from her family. Dawn was loved and will be forever,,,especially by me because she gave me hope.

Dawn's first Hugfest was our second. I was so impressed how all of her family members were there to support her.
To know all of the treatments that Dawn endured to fight this battle made her, in our eyes, the role model on how to deal with LMS.
To know how dedicate Jen was to be with Dawn as much as possible is heartwarming.
To all of you, cherish your wonderful memories of Dawn... will never be taken away from you.

To Dawn's loving family:
I graduated with Dawn from Union High School in 1983. I met Dawn in high school through our mutual friend, Sally Stevenson. Dawn was always so high energy with a great smile and unforgettable laugh. She was the kind of person you just wanted to be around. I lost my brother on 9/11. My parents and I know what it's like to deal with the loss of a loved one taken way too soon. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you. It was a privelege to have known Dawn. She was a beautiful human being who made this world a better place. I will never ever forget her. May Dawn find peace in God's loving arms. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
To the living, I am gone.
To the sorrowful, I will never return.
To the angry, I was cheated.
But to the happy, I am at peace.
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot speak, but I can listen.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea, REMEMBER ME.
As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity, REMEMBER ME.
REMEMBER ME in you hearts, your thoughts, and your memories of the times we loved, the times we cried, the times we laughed.
For if you always think of me, I will never have gone...

I grew up in Union, NJ and met Dawn and her family when they moved back from Switzerland. We became close friends and remained that way until I moved to Florida a year or two later. Although I really only spent a short time of my childhood with her, she was so important and so special to me, that when I think of my childhood, she stands out as if I knew her for years and years. When I heard about her illness from another dear, mutual friend, I cried. I cried for the beautiful, intelligent, funny, loving, caring young girl I once knew. I cried for the woman I know she became, and for the terrible loss for her family and friends. I wish I could have seen her just one more time to tell her how much I loved her and thought about her over the years. Her loss is enormous, and she will be missed by everyone she ever touched...My thoughts and prayers go to her family.

I am not even sure where I met Dawn, but it seems like she has always been around my daughter's activities. Whether it was Scouts (Camporee!) or the library (story times) or school (Field Day and Gallery Time and sign language in second grade), Dawn was there. Sometimes with a baseball hat or leg brace, but always cheerful. Her emails were the only clue to the battle she was fighting. She was a warrior. Carol Nemetz, Noel and Christian Krommenhoek

Everytime I stepped into Dawn's house I thought to myself, this is what I hope to aspire to. Dawn was so organized that even Jonah my son, would offer advice to me about how to keep my house in order. One day I was complaining about the dirty shoes by the front door. Jonah said, "You know mom if you had a shoe mat by the door like Mrs. Peragallo, there wouldn't be a problem!" Dawn was more than just a neighbor, she was my friend and I will miss her deeply. Our thoughs and prayers are with each of you at this incredibly difficult time.
We feel so fortunate that we were able to meet Dawn at Ben and Nikki's wedding, just so recently. Knowing how hard she was battling, we were awed by her strength and courage -- but even more, we were moved by her deep love for her brother and new sister-in-law. Even during such a tough period, she was so warm, so funny, downright silly at times -- and that showed us so much of a person that until that day we had never even met.
