I too remember the Christmas dinner at my house with Mrs. Edwards and Mrs. Carmody as my father sat between the two woman and was charmed by both of them. I will remember Mrs. Edwards as a beautiful, sweet woman who brought us all back to a more glamorous, enchanting time. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother and was always wonderful when friends were around. My sympathies to Evie, Peter, Brit and Lexi

I will always remember Majorie's grace and charm. She always looked beautiful and enjoyed coming out to the PEO meetings. I remember that she told me the story of coming to the US to help her sister who was pregnant and missing her family and England. Marjorie told me that she told her sister she could stay in the US but had to be in a city so she moved to NYC. She was always proud to share at meetings what was happening with her daughter and granddaugthers.
We will miss this grand lady.

Marjorie was a delight to sit and chat with at our PEO gatherings. While I only met Marjorie when she was still a very young 91 years of age, I was so impressed with her vitality and energy for life. She was always dressed beautifully and had an incredible "presence" and poise. I just loved hearing stories of her life! After reading her biography, I wasn't surprised to learn of her extraordinary contributions to a long list of organizations. An incredible woman and "Mom" to Evelyn. I am thankful to have met Marjorie and have her as a PEO sister. God bless.

My memories of Marjorie span a lifetime,my lifetime, because she was my aunt. She was married to my mother's brother,Uncle Ralph (Evelyn's father.)When I was growing up I visited Covington,Ky. from Louisiville I always got to see my favorite cousin Evelyn, 4 years my junior. We spent time together at our grandmother's making mud pies in the basement coal bin.We had great times together because she could turn brown glass medicine bottles into facsinating characters that we played with under the immense dining room table. We also spent time at Evelyn's house where Marjorie provided us with everything we needed. She was always kind to me. Later, when the Edwards moved to Kansas City,we had a beautiful Thanksgiving together in 1981. I was pregnant with my now 25 year old son. Marjorie prepared a magnificent meal, with a beautifully set table complete with fine china, silver and crystal. It was the last time my mother, father, sister ,husband, son,
Ev, Ralph,Marjorie and I were together. I was able to go to Kansas City for Marjorie's 90th birthday where she hosted 6 of us at age 90! Happily, my sister, son and I were able to join Brit Lexi and Marjorie for the beautiful wedding of Evelyn to Peter. Aunt Marjorie was so happy and proud.I will always remember Aunt Marjorie as a gracious, elegant, humerous, fun, caring and interesting person. Much Love Beth

In 1950 I attended the wedding of Aunt Marjorie and Uncle Ralph in NYC. What an exciting occaision for me, 9 nine years old at the time. There are 2 clear memories from that day after nearly 57 years.
One was the cab ride to the church with the nervous bridegroom and Mama. The other was at the wedding reception when Marjorie's sister, Joan prompted me to approach the bride and address her for the first time as "Mrs Edwards."
Every moment spent with Aunt Marjorie has been time well spent, and education and a joy. Love Suzanne

Marjorie was the antithesis of the regular mother-in-law jokes. She always treated me as one of the family, with real affection and generosity of spirit, as if she'd known me all my life. We shared a love of animals and gardening, and she was starting to appreciate steam engines, too! She will always be remembered for her radiance and charisma which lit up a room whenever she entered. Above all I will cherish her memory as a devoted Mother and Grandmother, shaping the lives of Evie, Brittany and Lexi to make them the strong, loving women they are today. We will always carry her memory in our hearts and know that she, together with her beloved husband Ralph, will always be there to watch over us. God bless you and keep you, Mum.

Among my favorite memories: *our weekly dinners at different restaurants.
* Mum's telephone calls starting with "Evie Darling, this is your mother". As if I could ever mistake her beautiful voice and accent!
*Every night for the past 3 years walking Mum across our deck and over the path to her lovely cottage, closing the blinds, turning on the lights, kissing her goodnight and having her wave to me from her door as I walked back saying "Good night, Darling. I love you".
I love you, too, Mummy.

I first met Marjorie Edwards forty years ago when I was just seventeen and came to stay from England. Her kindness and generosity and warmth are qualities I should like to emulate. A garden of the heart.
She planted all the good things that gave my life its start.

When I am gone, release me, let me go,
For I have so many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears,
Be thankful for our beautiful years.
I gave you my love, and you can only guess,
How much you gave me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now is the time for me to travel alone.
So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a time that we must part,
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on,
And if you ever need me, call, and I will come.
Though you won't be able to see or touch me,
I will be near, and if you listen with your heart,
You will hear all my love around you,
Very soft and clear.
And the, when you must travel this way alone,
I will greet you with a smile and say, "Welcome Home!"

Grandma, Darling...
Today marks one month since we lost you. I definitely inherited that overly emotional gene from Mom... otherwise I would have written here sooner. You were absolutely the most amazing woman I will ever know. I am so proud to be your granddaughter and I can only hope to accomplish half as much as you did in your long, wonderful life. Seeing you at Easter was so wonderful. I only wish I could have been home to see you before May. I missed... I miss your slim fast lunches, your coffee and bailey's which was more like bailey's and some coffee, your shoes the size of my head, your red nails, your glamorous style, your beautiful accent. There are so many things I wish I had asked you and so many things I wish I could have told you and so many moments I wanted to share with you. You were the highlight of so many lives, including mine. Thank you for everything you gave me. Thank you for helping to make me who I am today. I will always miss you. Always.

Evie, Having worked for your father as his secretary at AT&T, I had talked to your mother on many occasions, however I had only met and been in her company on two occasions. After your father's death in 1985, I received a call from her starting with "Mary, darling"! She said that she wanted to keep Ralph's tradition with Frieda Miller and me by taking us to lunch each year on our birthdays. Frieda and I were delighted and in turn we celebrated her birthday too. The three times that we met each year (for 20 years) were such a delight. I looked forward to the occasions and we had such a wonderful time sharing little things about your dad and also having her fill us in on all of the news she received from Christmas cards and letters. And she would always remember things we didn't.
Marjorie was remarkable and a beautiful, wonderful Lady and I miss her!

Evie, I want to add to my last candle. One trip out with your mother she asked me to take her to get some make-up. We went to Macy's and at the Elizabeth Arden counter we were served by a very young lady. She asked for your mothers driving licence as she did not have Macy's card. When I mouthed that she was 91 (at that time) this young lady could not believe it. She then said Marjorie should be up on the posters to show how wonderful their products were. How I agree. What a beautiful lady she was right up to the end.
