Richard Walter Woods (80) of High Bridge, NJ, a father of eight and grandfather of twenty passed away peacefully on January 12th, 2020.

Born on March 30st 1939, to the late William and Laura (Brady) Woods, he was raised in Hoboken NJ. He lived in West New York, NJ, Old Bridge, NJ and High Bridge, NJ (last 48 yrs). He graduated from Demarest High School (Hoboken NJ) and Seton Hall University with a degree in accounting. Over the years, he was employed by Western Electric, American Hoechst, Chanel, and the Girl Scouts of America.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60+ years, Theresa Render Woods.

He is survived by a brother James Woods (Doris) in Omaha, Nebraska, pre-deceased by brothers William Woods (Marie) of Paterson, NJ and Dennis Woods of Brick, NJ, and survived by sister in-law Carol Woods.

He is survived by five daughters and three sons and their families: Eileen and Brian Lebida, Richard and Alison Woods, Rosemary Woods and Liz Appezzato, Ann and George Kettelberger, Paul Woods and Colleen Woods, Diane and Scott O'Connell, Dennis and Jodie Woods, Mary Woods and Tom Foster.

He is a grandfather to twenty children: Brian, Timothy and Joseph Lebida; Benjamin, Amanda, Megan, and Rebecca Woods; Molly and Reilly Appezzato; Tessa, Louis, Audrey, and Maggie Kettelberger; Jeremey Buttigieg, Danielle and Nicolas Woods; Elizabeth, Christian, and Livia O'Connell; Ryan Woods.

He is an uncle to 35 wonderful nieces and nephews.

He had a fantastic sense of humor (or so he thought). He was a sports fan, loved the outdoors, favored the Friday evening horse races at the Meadowlands and family poker games. He spent many years coaching North Hunterdon Little League, pitching in fast pitch softball league, playing shuffle board, cribbage, shooting pool and golfing with his sons in law in Myrtle Beach.

In recent years, he enjoyed coaching women's softball, fishing with his sons in Maine and attending Triple Crown races with his daughters and hosting family barbeques.

He will forever be remembered for his humor, his love of learning and coaching, his work ethic, his integrity, his respect towards others, his gratitude and perseverance. He will always be a role model to us all.

The family would like to thank the numerous friends (uptown) in High Bridge who laughed at his jokes, respected and cared for him as if he was their father. The family would also like to thank all the caregivers at Hunterdon Medical Center who allowed us to enjoy more time with him over the years.

Relatives and friends may gather with the family on Thursday January 16, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton NJ 08809.
