Obituary of Dorothy Green

Dorothy R. Green, 87, of Pittstown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. Born November 18, 1932 in Denver, Colorado, she was the daughter of the late Byron and Pauline Russell. She was predeceased in 2012 by her husband of 55 years, John W. Green. Dorothy graduated from Colorado State University and became a registered dietician. After a short time on the west coast, the family moved to New Jersey and resided in Wyckoff, Basking Ridge, and finally Pittstown. When her children were all in school, she enjoyed her career as a dietician at nearby senior living facilities, the pediatric wing of a local hospital, and the school cafeteria. In her spare time Dorothy was an active volunteer in her church, in the community, belonged to many social groups, and enjoyed a healthy life with plenty of exercise and time outdoors. After retirement, she became a Master Gardener and then completed a course of study at Longwood Gardens. Her hobbies included quilting, travel, reading, gardening, music, food and trying new things! Dorothy is survived by daughters Sharon Lawton and her husband Rich of Martinsville, Arlene Green-Kahrs and her husband Eric of Phoenix, AZ, Michelle Trusty and her husband Brian of Collegeville, PA, and Linda Verde of Sacramento, CA and 7 grandchildren: Ne?e, Yasemin , Fatih, Christine, Kimberly, Ceilidh, and Tiana. She is also survived by 3 great-granddaughters, Elena, Ayla, and Tulay. A service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11am at the Clinton Presbyterian Church, Center Street, Clinton NJ. A lunch will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you donate to the charity of your choice or bring a meal to someone who needs one.
