Obituary of Mary Ellen Nesius

Mary Ellen Nesius, 73, of Califon New Jersey, passed away peacefully in her sleep, February 23, 2020, at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ.

Mary was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on January 27th, 1947. She went to Holy Angles High School and then received her bachelor's degree at Saint Mary's College in South Bend Indiana and her Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. She taught High School English and was the head of the English department at Perth Amboy Catholic High School, she then taught at Randolph High School. From there she worked as a product manager for AT&T, working in Bell Labs to design and getting a patent for an AT&T fax machine, a real achievement in that organization. She was involved as a volunteer at the Top o' the Barn thrift shop. She enjoyed making jewelry, and following her artistic instincts, she collected a variety of sculptures.

Mary was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. For many years leading up to her passing, she collected a library of cookbooks from around the world. She loved to read online recipes during her spare time and cut out recipes from various magazines.

She was an avid reader and in addition to her cookbooks had many books that filled the shelves of her two-story library and other book shelves that covered a wall in the living room.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Noelke. She is survived by her husband of 49 years and six months, Robert, and her two daughters, Elizabeth and Catherine.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from Noon to 2:00 PM, followed by words of remembrance from 2:00 to 3:00 at the Martin Funeral Home 1761 State Road 31, Clinton, Ney Jersey 08809.
