Obituary of Richard F Ross

Richard F. Ross, 82, of Clinton Township passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020 at Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown, NJ due to complications from the Coronaviris. He was born in New York City on July 21, 1937 and moved to Hunterdon County as an infant. He lived in Hunterdon for his entire life. He was the son of the late Frank and Rosalie Ross.

Richard graduated from North Hunterdon High School in 1956 where he played baseball. While in High School, Rich began what would become his career at Acme Supermarkets. After 40 years of service, he retired from Acme as a Produce Manager in 1993.

Richard was an avid outdoorsman and spent much of his time fishing and hunting.  Camping with his family and spending time at their cabin in the mountains of Wellsboro, PA were some of his favorite pastimes.  He was a gifted fisherman and took great pride in teaching his grandchildren all he knew about fishing. When he wasn’t enjoying the outdoors, he could always be found on the sidelines of one of his grandchildren’s many sporting events cheering them on.

He will be remembered for his kind, gentle nature, and his dedication to his family.  He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Dolores Lindabury, and two sons, Michael and Ronald Torgersen.  He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Carmela; a son Robert Torgersen of Herndon, PA; a daughter, Toni Hill and her husband Mike of Upper Black Eddy, PA; and his daughter Marie Davies and her husband Jeff of Pittstown, NJ; daughter-in-law Ellie Torgersen of Bethlehem, Pa; daughter-in-law Laurie Torgersen of Wind Gap, PA; 9 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Travis, Chelsea, Carly, Shane, Ronald, Rachel, Mason and Tanner; 5 great-grandchildren, Amelia, Lukas, Elise, Vivian and Jordyn.
