Obituary of Kristen Phyllis Burt
Kristen Phyllis (Schneider) Burt, 49, of Clinton Township died peacefully after a long illness on Saturday May 23, 2020 surrounded by family.
She was born on December 22, 1970 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a wonderful daughter to her dear parents Harriett Anné and the late Robert Charles Schneider. Kristen was a beloved wife of 17 years to Christopher E. Burt and adoring mother to their sons Graham and Derek.
Kristen spent the early part of her life in Caldwell and New Vernon, NJ and graduated from Madison High School. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in sociology from Drew University. Throughout her teens and twenties, Kristen was an avid equestrian, competing on the hunter/jumper circuit from Wellington, FL to Devon, PA to Lake Placid, NY. She was a devoted horsewoman and took exceptional care of her beloved horses. Kristen's love for the outdoors led her to spend two summers working at Yellowstone National Park and later she lived in Bozeman, Montana and Salinas, CA. She returned to NJ where she was employed at an investment brokerage firm before starting a family.
Kristen's most fulfilling occupation was as a full-time mother to her two sons whom she adored and loved with all her heart. Kristen loved cooking and was an accomplished cake baker. She was a tireless gardener and enjoyed restoring and repurposing antiques. Kristen loved state parks and the beach-- especially the times spent with her family at LBI. A devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and friend she was kind, caring, hard-working and generous and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Kristen is survived by her loving husband Christopher E. Burt, her adoring children, Graham age 13 and Derek age 9, her mother Harriett Schneider (Anné), brother Scott Schneider (wife Dana) Basking Ridge, NJ, sister Alexis Schneider Gerbracht (husband Patrick) Redding, CT, mother and father in law Carolyn J Burt and Charles M Burt, Maplewood, NJ and brother-in-law Gregory Burt.
