Obituary of Dale Anne Weber
Dale Anne Weber, 73, died peacefully on October 15th, 2020 at the home she shared with her daughter and family in High Bridge, NJ.
Dale was born on November 27th, 1946, in Elizabeth, NJ to Vincent "Brink" and Helen "Dale" (Peters) Brinkerhoff. She and her two younger sisters were raised in her father's hometown of Cranford, NJ, where she lived until moving in with her daughter and family 4 years ago. She graduated from Cranford High School in 1964.
You can't think about Dale without Cranford coming to mind. She truly loved the simple life that she built there. She worked for over 20 years as a Confidential Bookkeeper for the Cranford Board of Education and was a member of Cranford VFW Post 335, Ladies' Auxiliary. She particularly loved summertime in Cranford where she could be found working on her tan at Orange Avenue Pool or spoiling herself with her favorite treat from Frosty Freeze, "large butterscotch sundae with peanuts, not wet nuts, whipped cream and no cherry".
What Dale cherished most about Cranford are the lifelong friendships she formed there. She maintained relationships with every friend she ever made from childhood through adulthood. Being a good friend was very important to her and her friends would say she was first rate. Dale instilled the importance of friendship in her daughter as well. She taught her to always listen, never judge and always be willing to forgive. To Dale, friends are family.
While leaving Cranford was a difficult decision, it enabled her to spend her final years being endlessly entertained by her granddaughters. Dale was able to see them off on their first day of school, watch them open presents on Christmas morning and share with them her love of ice cream sundaes.
Dale is survived by her only daughter, Leigh (Mike) Hart of High Bridge, NJ; her two sisters, Dana (Jeff) Brinkerhoff of Hollister, CA, and Dory (Richard) Brewster of Hillsborough, NJ; her three granddaughters, Gia, Ainsley and Dublin Hart; her nephew Steve Rosen; and her many, many, dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 27th, at 10:00 AM, at St. Michael's RC Church, 40 Alden St, Cranford, NJ.
Donations may be made in Dale's memory to a charity near and dear to you. She often donated to Wounded Warrior Project and March of Dimes.
In Dale's honor, tell your friends and family you love them, treat yourself to that sundae, and remember, no talking during Jeopardy!
