For you, Dad:
On behalf of my family, thank you all for coming to honor my father’s life. He meant so much to so many, and you were all meaningful to him. This loss is shared by all of us.
My father lived a great life. He did it right. He was happy. Seizing every day to its fullest, it’s still hard to believe he found the time to do all that he did. There was nothing ordinary about him. He was a remarkable man.
My parents forged their relationship in 1965. Having been together for over 55 years, they taught us solidarity, commitment, and the importance of family. How perfect for them to have found one another. Always available, family was everything to him. I find solace in knowing that he got to meet his grandchildren, and that they really got to know and love him. He showed us the world and meant the world to us.
I will miss going on adventures with him, his stories, his laughter. The fact that when he spoke, it meant something. His partially smoked cigars, hanging off the edge of every workbench. I would often stop by and find him working on an interesting project of some sort or another. He was a great mentor. Always troubleshooting, always learning, always teaching. He lived a life of true grit and integrity. He taught me that it’s not about the stress that life deals you, it’s about how you deal with it. I always knew I could count on him for anything.
He shared these life experiences with us, quietly imparting his wisdom along the way, and we are grateful. Thanks for everything, Dad. We are going to miss you.
Your loving family,
Roger, Kimberly, Evander & Adelene

In memory of Ray Hull,
I would like to reflect on one of the greatest humans I met in my life, my friend Ray Hull.
Going back to the beginning, it was in 1979 when I joined J&J as a coop student working in the Band-Aid factory in North Brunswick that I met Ray. Ray also worked there but was in the National Equipment Design Group that provided engineering for a large portion of J&J's consumers group. I was young and curious and wanted to design and build machines. I heard about the famous Ray Hull. So one day I went into his area and someone pointed his office out to me. I walked past his office and their was this distinguished man, well dressed up in a three piece suit, pondering over some design drawings. I didn't say hello, I just wanted to know who he was. I knew I wanted to be like him.
Over the years we started to work together and this is my story. I quickly realized that i was in the presence of a brilliant man. Not only brilliant but a man with a warm glow (with his smile and beaming eyes) and a personality that was inviting and allowed me to converse with him in a non threatening way. He was so confident that he didn't have to prove himself. Ray did this with everyone and affected so many engineers lives and thought processes. He was the ultimate mentor. Ray has more engineering concepts than many text books combined together, and he shared them with all of us.
Over the years Ray and I worked together and became good friends. I have many fond memories with Ray and got to know his family. What a great group of people. Ray was a great husband and father and you could see that in the families interactions at the annual picnics.
I am currently still designing and building machines and there is infrequently a brainstorming session that doesn't include the things that Ray taught me. Most of all his style of thinking. As I reflect on my time knowing Ray, I realize I am still tying to be like him! The man who set the stage for engineering brilliance wherever he went. Ray was J&J's "Ambassador of Engineering", a living legend.
Ray has impacted many people and will be missed. But he is part of all of us in a good way. Here's to Ray Hull!
I am so thankful I was able to know Ray.
Rest in peace my friend,
Jim Menke

I will miss hearing your motorcycle start, I’ll miss seeing you communing with nature, and enjoying your work around your beautiful home.
We always shared a wave or a nod, while busy with our tasks. You had my highest respect.
Getting the horse in the barn, after he continued to refuse my attempts, made you a Horse Whisperer.
I will always say thanks to you, before I ride in my ring. Your kindness in letting us borrow your backhoe, made it possible.
GOD Speed Mr Hull!

Ray always treated me like one of his own. I always admired his humbleness and kindness. He helped raise two great men I am proud to be friends with. Love you all!

Connie and family I am so sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you. I knew Ray through J&J in the 90's, and my first thought of him was that he was a scary looking guy with a crazy handlebar mustache and pony tail. Of course that thought could not have been further from the truth as Ray was the most gentle natured and always kind professional who made time for anyone. I learned a lot from Ray both professionally and personally. He always had a story to tell and cigar boxes full of products to show. It was truly an honor to know him. I remember he told me to keep your kids close when they are young and they will keep you close when you are old. Wise words from a wise and beautiful soul. Ray will be greatly missed, but his beautiful spirit will live on forever. May your memories and your loved ones bring you comfort.
Love and prayers to you,
Sharon Ryan

My condolences to all family and friends of Ray. The world has truly lost a good man. I worked with Ray at J&J in the early 80's. He tutored me through calculus as I was completing my engineering degree.. He was a calm quite person that had a unique way of explaining things (not just calculus) that made me clearly understand. I also remember the first time meeting him camping at the US Grand Prix in Watkins Glenn, NY along with others from J&J. I can still smell his pipe!
RIP Ray
