Obituary of Orazio Roger Savino
Orazio Roger Savino, Son of Oronzo Otto Savino and Rose Savino was born
September 3, 1936.
He was predeceased by his beloved Wife of 57 years, Dyanne Savino. They met in the late 1950's on a sandy beach in Belmar, NJ. They started a family of three surviving and forever graceful children, Lisa, Mia and Ron. His grandchildren Cali and Michael will dearly miss him as well as Charles, his Son-in-Law.
Orazio, better known as Roger, was a true family man, whom deeply missed his 2 sisters Nancy and Ann, but truly enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren. These times spent together were always joyful and fun. His positive energy easily spread to those around him so lucky to be touched by his life.
Roger grew up in East Orange, NJ where he cultivated friendships as early as grammar school that continued throughout his lifetime. He spoke fondly of his group of friends and shared many stories of their adventures together.
His work career started at Tungsol, where he was an integral part in an electrical patent. He moved on as the owner of one of the first Aamco Transmissions franchises. Beep.. Beep. He also was involved with Venetian Marble as well as an Italian Food Import businesses.
His love for the ponies was well known and he owned a couple of Racehorses with his beloved cousin Mikey. On many occasions one would find his head buried in the Racing Forum working his numbers.
The beach was his happy place and loved the warm sun exceedingly. In recent years he immensely enjoyed being a part of a local Italian American Club sharing stories of his Italian Heritage and his life.
He loved his Steak for sure, medium well and a tad pink. He did not like watching the same movie twice but would be Ok with only a few favorites. Enjoyable visits would often be shared with a "wee bit" of scotch. He was patriotic displaying flags but didn't talk much about his military experience.
His love for his wife was immense and surely will be a welcoming embrace into the heavens. A toast to his memory with your favorite beverage in hand will make him smile above.
His wonderful smile could light up a room and will be sorely missed.
God Bless you, till we meet again!
