Obituary of Joan M Guinee

Joan Margaret Guinee, of Annandale, died peacefully June 13, 2021 at home, surrounded by family, after a long battle with dementia.

Born in Whitestone, NY on September 22, 1931, Joan was the daughter of Patrick and Kathleen Malloy, and a sister to Rosemarie Malloy Ruscio; all predeceased.

Joan and her husband Jim were married 60 years. They resided in Shrewsbury, Allenhurst, and Berkeley Heights prior to moving to Annandale in 2001. Joan and Jim have five children, Kathleen P. Guinee of Herndon, VA, Susan M. Guinee Benson of Cornelius, NC, James M. Guinee of Berkeley Heights, NJ, Daniel P. Guinee of Freehold, NJ, and Maureen E. Guinee Cargill of Annandale, NJ. Joan and Jim are blessed with thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Joan graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School and went on to Katherine Gibbs school in New York City. She worked for Time/Life, Inc. in Manhattan, and for several airlines at LaGuardia Airport on Long Island. Joan moved to San Mateo, California, and worked for Southwest Airlines. Her dad, Patrick, on a trip to the “west coast” persuaded Joan to come home to NJ.

Joan loved her Irish and Catholic heritage and faith and experienced the fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday June 17th from 3:00 p.m. unti 7:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ 08809.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday June 18th at 10:00am at Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ. Entombment will follow at Immaculate Conception Mausoleum.
