Obituary of Harry Loring Edgcomb

Harry Loring Edgcomb, age 87, of Union Twp., NJ died Monday, December 3, 2007 at home. Mr. Edgcomb was born May 9, 1920 in Philadelphia, Pa. the son of the late Harry L. and the late Lucy (nee Minor) Edgcomb. He was a World War II Veteran in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946 where he earned the rank of Lieutenant and served as a Chief Flight Instructor. Harry was a Graduate of Millburn High School and Dartmouth College (Geology Major). Mr. Edgcomb resided in Union Twp., NJ for the past 10 years. Most of his life he lived in Short Hills, NJ where he served on the Millburn Board of Education for 12 years, was a trustee of the Community Congregational Church, and a scout leader. Harry was the President of Edgcomb Steel in Hillside, NJ for many years and more recently, he worked in real estate sales in northern New Jersey. He was an avid photographer and fly fisherman, an accomplished woodworker, and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his Wife of 65 years: Phyllis Hansen Edgcomb, two Daughters: Sandra Stiger of Union Township, NJ and Virginia Edgcomb of Mashpee, Ma., his Grandchildren: Michele, Laurie, Sara and his Great Grandchild, Summer. He was pre-deceased by his Son, David in 1976. Private arrangements will be made by the family.
