I worked with Jay for 14 years at RWJUH and only found out of his passing today. I was deeply saddened. Jay was a fair minded, kind person you could always trust and of the highest character. I have only the best memories of him and will miss him. My deepest sympathy to his family and my prayers will follow.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Jay's passing. I knew him throughout high school and as everyone has mentioned, he was a kind and spiritual soul who loved being outdoors. I imagine Jay has many friends - when you met him, he had a warm and welcoming smile. That's how I will remember him. My prayers go out to his family and I hope that everyone's wonderful memories of Jay will be a comfort to them in the difficult days ahead.

Dearest Roselee, Tim and Corey, So so sad. Although we didn't have much time with Jay we always said after a few fun family gatherings that he was the sweetest, kindest man and so happy to have known him. I can't stop thinking about his smile and how he loved his family so. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal. We love you and are holding Jay's memory dear to our hearts. Mary and Craig

I know Jay for about 15 years. A good man and a good boss. Besides work I always enjoyed talking to him about his diving and other adventures. I will never forget his picture with the shark and his son. God bless him with open arms in the heaven.

Dear Rosalee, Tim and Mark
My heart is sad that you have lost a great husband, father and brother and I have lost a long time friend. As you know, Jay and I grew up at the same time and I am glad to say that a good portion of that was together. (Heck I am still 37 days older than he is)I knew Jay's parents Mike and Blanche and Mark as well and spent time in their house. We celebrated going off to college together (Mark may remember that night, Randy was there too), went to rock concerts and on road trips together. Jay and I sat at the same lunch table in HS for years together and were mischevious together (once in a great while :) )as well.
During our college years we wrote letters to each other to keep in touch. (Way before e-mail) After college lives drifted apart as happens but I always asked about him or during the times we could meet caught up and laughed together as good friends do.
Although Oregon is a long way from NJ, when we met last year we talked about bringing our families together later this year and I looked forward to that.
He lived a great and full life and I am glad I knew him as friend.
My deepest sympathy to you all. If you are ever in the Pacific NW, I am in Portland, Oregon please say hello and stay with us.

I worked with Jay at RWJUH for 32 years. Through the years we had done many things together outside of work. His contributions to the organization are a testimony to his character, diligent, persistant, organized, and thorough. We all will miss a great man! Peace of the Lord be with the family and friends of Jay.

Tim, you did an excellent job of highlighting your dad's life. Richard and I were along on several of Purai and Jay's hikes and encounters with the outdoors. One time that particularly stands out in my mind is the hike we took up Hawk Mt. Keeping up with Jay was a challenge! The beautiful view was well worth the effort. I am glad we were along for the adventure. Wine fests, concerts and picnics at the Red Mill, dinners out and chats on the deck over some great pizza, etc. flood my memory. Even though we moved to SD,the miles did not stop our friendship with Jay and Purai. Jay will be missed by his many friends.
