Obituary of Herbert W. W. Hart
Herbert W. Hart, age 96, of Clinton Township, NJ died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Country Arch Care Center in Union Twp., NJ. Herb was born October 27, 1916 to Ross and Florence Hart in Jersey City, NJ.
He attended Newark College of Engineering and was a US Army Veteran and graduated from the Signal Corps School of Communication at Fort Monmouth New Jersey. Herb retired from ITT as a Senior Project Engineer after many years. He worked on the Atomic Bomb and assisted in putting a 200 kilowatts short wave radio station on the air at Mason, Ohio for the Office of War Information (OWI) in 1944. He was an elder and choir member of the Presbyterian Church and a longtime member of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Pittstown, NJ.
Herbert resided in Clinton Twp., NJ for the past 49 years and previous to that, he lived in Roseland, NJ. He enjoyed hiking the Delaware Water Gap and operating his Hamm radio. He especially cherished spending time with his family while vacationing at Cape Cod.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara J. Pearson & her husband, Bruce of Clinton, NJ, his son, Charles Hart of Whitehouse, NJ and his grandsons, Douglas and Lee Pearson. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Jeanne in 2006.
Herbert's Life Celebration includes visitation on Friday, March 8th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, March 9th at 11:00 am at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 2 Race Street, Pittstown, NJ. Family & friends are invited to meet directly at the church on Saturday morning. A luncheon will follow at the church immediately after the Memorial Service.
