Obituary of Charles William Devlin
Charles William "Billy" Devlin, age 61, of Hampton passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at his home. He was born August 9, 1947 in Newark, NJ. He was the son of the late John and Kathryn (Starin) Devlin. He has been living in Hampton since 1956.
Billy was a veteran of the US Army. He volunteered to serve in Vietnam.
He was a champion chess player in Hunterdon and Warren Counties, winning many tournaments.
Most important, Billy was a loving son, brother and uncle and was always willing to help others. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by two sisters: Jane Painter of Hampton, NJ, Barbara Henderson and her husband Richard of Glen Gardner, NJ and four brothers: Dennis A. Devlin of Easton, PA., Thomas Devlin and his wife Linda of Changewater, NJ; Kevin Devlin and his wife Sharon of Hampton, NJ, Lawrence Devlin and his wife Joan of Alpha, NJ; his Aunt: Irene Brosang of Whiting, NJ. He also is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Monday October 27th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ.
There will be a Funeral Mass held on Tuesday, October 28th at 10:00 am at St. Ann's Church, 6 Church Street, Hampton. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery.
